Marina Vallarta Las Palmas I Local 3

El Banco Comes to Life, Marlin Everywhere, Currents Swirling

After two weeks of less than exciting fishing here in Puerto Vallarta we see signs of life once again at Corbeteña and El Banco. It´s been an up and down week with the passing of another tropical storm that just a day later hit Cabo. We´ve seen dirty water come in at the Marietta Islands point out as a result of changing currents. And if that´s not enough for you, then consider how the warm water is way up north and we´re seeing our Yellowfin Tuna and Dorado once again vacationing in San Diego!

El Banco Springs to Life, Corbeteña has Marlin in Between

Hello everyone, it´s been another interesting week with much the same and some surprising news. To start we´ve still got some very large Marlin around the area. We still have challenges in the form of Bottle Nose Dolphin and Sharks at Corbeteña. El Banco has sprung to life with Marlin as well. Dorado which have been MIA or Missing in Action have shown up at Punta Mita. Water and Bait conditions couldn´t be better and the general health of Sportfishing in PV is incredible. As we enter the lowest part of the season where a tourist is pretty scarce, the fishing improves and the conditions, financial as well will only make it more attractive to come fishing in some of the best fishing grounds in the world! The best is yet to come!

Sharks, Dolphin Bait Robbers, Perfect Conditions, Picky Marlin

Here we go again, another week of the same, but that´s not a bad thing. We still have sharks and Dolphin out there taking your bait like a free sample at Costco! Making bait is not impossible at the deep water locations, but it´s not exactly easy. The water is still a High Visibility Blue, still plenty of bait (Closer in again), water temperatures are on the rise and frankly things could be better I guess, but not much.

Tuna Return to Corbetena, Porpoise & Shark Bait Robbers!

I guess it all depends on if you´re a half full or half empty type of person as to if conditions are good or bad. Yes there are still challenges, but this is fishing and if you can´t handle a challenge then you shouldn´t get in the boat to go fishing! We have World Class Big fish out there, they´re spread out and they´re taking baits! There are also ¨challenges¨ in the form of Dolphin or Porpoise and Sharks, Lemon Sharks to be exact. Conditions for fishing are great, but this cat and mouse game you have to play with these bait stealers will drive you nuts! Welcome to the world of Big Game Fishing amigos!

Marlin, Sailfish, Challenges Exist: Porpoises / Sharks!

It´s been another interesting week here in Puerto Vallarta´s Fishing grounds with Big fish and big challenges. For the last couple of weeks Corbeteña has been the place to be, unfortunately the Porpoises and Lemon Sharks are of the same opinion. What does this mean, well for one thing you´re playing cat and mouse with the porpoises or Dolphin of the flipper variety. With all the bait in the water you´d think making bait (catching bait) would be a no brainer. But in fact once you´re past the Marietta Islands you better make bait or you´ll have issues (like I did the other day). With Dolphin in the area they love to get your free offering and they take it up to the hook! Shark are there as well, but you can´t see them, they´re below the surface and they´re just sniping your baits.

It´s Prime Time Fishing, 800 lb Black Marlin!

It´s has been an interesting week. We had a few days where Black Marlin, Blue Marlin, Yellowfin Tuna and Sailfish were circling Corbeteña and taking baits at will. I put friends out on one of our boats and they found nothing, not even bait. For twelve other boats that day it was the same thing, no bait, no fish, nothing. Two days later we have world class trophy Game fish all over these same fishing grounds. One problem was / is Bottle Nose Dolphin, the ones like Flipper. They are bait thieves and will eat your trolled bait right up to the hook. Lemon Sharks are just as smart and they´re doing the same thing.

Best Fishing in Puerto Vallarta in last five years!

If you look at the local conditions in Puerto Vallarta you´ll have a hard time finding a word that would fit better than ¨Perfect¨! Here in Puerto Vallarta we´re seeing the best fishing we´ve had in five years (per Capt. Cesar of Magnifico) and we´re as happy as we can be! With water temperatures at 85 degrees of High visibility blue water all our different species available now mixed in with the amounts and availability of bait every bait there is under the sun, it´s going to be sometime before we see any changes! Prepare for cookie cutter reports that resemble the following!

Our Best Fishing in Two Years, It´s Fish City in PV!

When it does get warm, the warm currents come with it and with the currents come Puerto Vallarta´s Fishing Reputation as being one of the top ten fishing locations in the world! Right now Puerto Vallarta is living up to that reputation with abundant ¨Bucket List¨ trophy gamefish and happy Anglers, YeHa!

Yellowfin Tuna & Much More at Corbeteña and El Banco!!

When the local weather gets hot and tropical. With this dramatic change in seasons, when things are as hot and humid as they´re going to get, this is when you´ll find the Monster Yellowfin Tuna, Big Black and Blue Marlin, Sailfish and more. It would be very nice to have prime fishing in high season for tourism, but it doesn´t work that way amigos. For those in the area, we´re seeing Deep Sea fishing now like we haven´t seen for years. I was half way expecting the fishing to pull back a little since it just exploded out of the blue last week. But that´s not the case, in fact the fishing is still outstanding and picking up on a daily basis. Short day trips or long days targeting world class gamefish, whatever you´re looking for, we have it now!

It´s Fish City: Yellowfin Tuna, Dorado, Marlin at Corbeteña and El Banco!!

What a difference a week can make and man have things changed so lets get into it! El Banco, Blue Marlin in the 400 lb plus range have returned to the high spots. Yellowfin Tuna are in the 150 to 200 lb range and they´re taking bullet skip jack tuna as favorite bait. No worry, they´re plentiful all around the bay so make bait early and get out there!! Dorado at 25lbs, good size, have also shown up Sailfish, Cubera Snappers to 60 lbs. Targeting YF Tuna, here´s the secret, if you´re not using a kite, you won´t boat a tuna. We have high visibility Blue Water and conditions are as close to perfect as it will get amigos, if this doesn´t draw you out of your man-cave nothing will.
