Marina Vallarta Las Palmas I Local 3

Great Fishing, Perfect Conditions, It´s Fish City

Corbeteña, located thirty five miles out from Marina Vallarta has once again performed as its reputation suggest. Yellowfin Tuna are still in the area running anywhere from 60 to over 200 lbs. Maybe larger, it´s been known to happen. Sailfish are taking over all the fishing grounds right now, it´s their season. Dorado, of course, in the 45 to 65 lb range. Black Marlin are still running in the 500 to 750 lb range, but a touch more abundant this week. Same story for Blue Marlin seems to be an even mix. Wahoo are thinning as well and they´re not the largest, but with plenty of bait and clean blue water, they may hang for a while. Running in the 60 lb range, they´re the best tasting fish in the ocean amigo.

High Season Brings 200 lb Yellowfin Tuna, Wahoo!

All year long we wait for High Season. We know the tourist are back and we know we´ll see more people coming to Puerto Vallarta by the day. This time of the year we see the days grow shorter and cooler. Yet the water temperatures will take weeks and weeks before they begin to drop. For now, conditions could not be better and when fish are abundant, you have a recipe for success. But first you have to be on the water to take advantage of our world class fishing in the Bay of Banderas!

Blue Marlin, Sailfish, Dorado, Rooster Fish, Wahoo!

Just like a rubber band, fishing has snapped back after yet another unsuspected Hurricane a thousand miles out to sea! Yes this is a long way, but it still puts high pressure on the water, which of course chases the fish in the area out. For now We´re also seeing Wahoo at Corbeteña, Rooster Fish at the Marietta Islands, Dorado and Sails at Punta Mita. Yes folks, fishing has turned the corner as the days get shorter and the temperatures come back into more normal ranges. Puerto Vallarta is beginning to rock amigos, time to get your butt in gear.

Warm Weather, Warm Water, It´s Fish Soup!

Strange title I know, but it´s appropriate and to the point. More tropical storms, warm water and challenging fishing conditions for sure. A more appropriate title would be ¨fishing in soup¨. Even though the water is still warm, we have all the fish you could hope to find right now, but they are on the smaller side. For the visitor looking for something for the dinner table, we can still fix you up amigo. Deep water locations are tapering off, but still producing. Punta Mita, once again is the place to be and those in the area are boating Sailfish, Dorado and small Blue Marlin. Yes folks, we have fish!

Water Temperatures Jump, Dorado thin out!

After what seemed like a whole season, but was in fact just a few weeks we are now back in what seems to be our normal summer pattern of Tropical Storms turning into Hurricanes! By the time you read this the storm will have already hit mid Baja, hopefully not doing too much damage. With Hurricane Octave passing us, it has once more screwed up the fishing with the high pressure pushing fish out of its path. At the moment this article was being written I spied another weather disturbance that was forming just south of Acapulco. The projections show it heading for the Baja area as well. Not a good thing for the Bisbee´s tournament is coming up and in the last five years three tournaments have been either shortened or concerned. This has in fact only really affected the deep water locations, now the water temperatures, that´s another story…. Stay tuned.

Puerto Vallarta is Fish City, Rooster Fish, Marlin, 65 lb Dorado!

Normally at this time of the year I am writing cookie cutter reports about huge Yellowfin Tuna, Black Marlin and Dorado on Tap, but that has not been the case. So it´s a pleasure to tell you we have once again turned into Fish City as we normally do for weeks and even months before October, normally. We have seen an explosion of species returning to our world famous fishing grounds in increasing numbers. You want to catch something that will be a lifetime memory, then now would not be a bad time amigo. For the locals, you waited for it, it´s time to jump and get out there. Visitors, well you will catch fish, I guarantee it in writing amigo. Time to take action or it´s just going to be another season before you boat that Finned Fantasy you have always dreamed of!

Ghost Town, Deserted Fishing Grounds, Incredible Catch!

Well, we´re finally here, the time of year when if you can´t catch a fish, then you don´t have a line in the water. Nothing fancy, just get there, you´ll catch fish, end of story. Now the rest of this weeks report is now redundant. Sailfish, Marlin, Tuna, Dorado, Pargo or Dog Tooth Snappers, I mean what else could you possibly want? And if that´s not enough, the fishing grounds are a deserted ghost town where you can have a finned fantasy for the taking. It´s the time when even bad captains catch fish. Jip Trips for $180 dollars roaming from Los Arcos to Marina Vallarta are catching fish. Sailfish off La Cruz, Yellowfin Tuna or Footballs abundant at Yelapa. I mean there´s the report. But of course there´s always more to say….

80 lb Cubera Snappers, 400 lb Black Marlin, Bait City!

The Marietta Islands have been hot and cold, hence the pedal to the metal title. Some days last week, too much bait, couldn´t get a strike for nothing! But boy has that changed. Dorado in the 35 lb range are all around the island. Red Snappers to 30 lbs and abundant, Bonito, Sierra Mackerals, Sailfish and even some Rooster fish (not many).
