Fishing Conditions Slow To Change, But Changing They Are !
This week the weather was warmer than normal and the humidity was going through the roof, which believe it or not, it is supposed to be getting more like this every day. But we are seeing cold days mixed in with warm humid days. What it all means is basically we are still in a late winter mode and in turn that means the water is late warming up. That is not a catastrophe, but as we come back in to Tourism Mode as we come into late May, we do normally have Dorado and Sailfish to go after. But this is an interesting situation where as summer is coming on and things are still cool seasonally. On the positive side, we see Rooster fish north of Punta Mita, Sailfish north of San Pancho and there is plenty of bait in the water for your favorite blue plate special!
Beware of the Pirate / illegal Master Baiter's, Orig. is in Marina Vallarta
For many out there, there has been the question of how there is another Master Baiter´s store in Downtown and not be associated with the origional store in marina Vallarta. It is very simple, but on the surface is confusing. For those of you who want to know how this came down, here is the story in a tiny nutshell..

Seasonal changes bring challenges to Sports Fisherman
Transition and season changes bring all sorts of challenges to Sports Fisherman with spawning, water temperatures and abundant bait in the water challenges to figure out and over come. Those who want to go fishing will catch fish, no question about that. Those looking for Moby Dick or his cousin in the bay will be disappointed, ignore that time share agent. Small Game fish abound, fishing is great and the conditions are perfect! Those looking for Black or Blue Marlin will have to wait a couple of months more.
In Fish City Spring Is In The Air, Be Prepared for Bait Rejection!
Normally at this time of the year we are talking about how there are all kinds of fish out there, but the tourism is down, which of course is normal for post Easter Holiday travel. ¨Normally¨ there are large Dorado, Sailfish and the beginning of Striped Marlin moving in. But that is normal and nothing has been normal since the El Nino conditions began about this time last year. Now we are on the other end of El Nino, which can mean a couple of different things.
Oil Spill Disaster 2010, 300 Comercial fisherman loose livelyhood
Since this disaster will be paid for by our tax dollars, and in our loss of one of the largest oyster beds in the world, we have to act as a group! We all need to phone, or send an email to our senators, congressmen, governors and President .. …. Let them know we are sick of being abused by govt. watchdogs not doing their appointed duties in the name of the Public. Not in the name of big oil companies who shift the blame and ultimately get away with this …..
Open Invitation to Pres.Obama, Come Fishing with Us

Quickie Report: April 29, Snapper at Punta Mita
We are still waiting for the Sailfish to take their eyes off the women, but I guess all us guys have the same problem. A couple of Striped Marlin were boated yesterday, but I didn’t see them…. still, this is a good sign if it continues … stay tuned. Dorado are still missing as well. […]
MEXICAN SPORTFISHING REGULATIONS
There are always a lot of questions on Mexican Fishing Regulations / Fishing Limits. Below are the facts or you can go directly to the official Mexican Govt. Web Site to get all the details. Right now the enforcement of these regulations is non-existant in Puerto Vallarta. But I do know they are enforced in Cabo. So make sure your butts are covered. If you are anything like me, I would be the one who gets busted! Visti the web site at:
Seasonal Transitions Slow, Spawining Getting in the Way of Fishing
It seems we are a little slow to come out of the Winter Season, but there have been some encouraging signs lately. Water temperatures have been hovering around seventy nine degrees and that is where they should be at this time of the year. But still, Sailfish are normally thick in the area around Punta Mita and the Marietta Islands around Easter. This year we have been scratching our heads wondering where they were and finally we are seeing some signs of life. For the last couple of days we have seen some, not many, but some Sailfish turning up north of Punta Mita (10 hr day) and around the Marietta Islands.
