Marina Vallarta Las Palmas I Local 3

It’s Fish City in Puerto Vallarta Fishing Grounds, Summer is Here!

It’s Fish City in Puerto Vallarta Fishing Grounds, Summer is Here! It can seem like a thousand years from Easter to mid June when all the summer vacationers find their way back to Vallarta once again. After last year and the swine flu lies the press in the states were spreading around, it had us a little worried that tourism may not bounce back. Now with fishings high season returning the favored species of Blue Marlin, Yellowfin Tuna, Sailfish and yes even Dorado have returned to the area just in time for vacationing anglers to boat that finned fantasy in their bucket lists.

Finally, Summer Finds Puerto Vallarta, Blue Marlin, Sailfish, and Roosters Return!

The exciting news this week is the Rooster Fish at the Marietta Islands have finally gotten their eyes off the ladies and are interested in a nice, flashy jig! Roosters at the islands have been in the 40 to 70 lb range and they’re anything but polite about the way they’re attaching a jig. If you´ve never seen a Rooster fish attack a bait on the surface, it´s actually shocking to see it for the first time. The quills sticking up from the surface as it literally races like a torpedo towards your bait. It looks almost like a submarine sea demon. Once hit hits, then you know it´s a demon! On light tackle you can expect to spend fifteen minutes to an hour depending on the variables. One non-variable will be your sore arms the next day! Since we´re talking about the Marietta Islands, the Sailfish are setting up house in this area again, that´s the good news. The bad news, sort of, is there are like billions upon billions of flying fish in the small sardine size. Trying to turn their heads from that is like pulling your wife from an 80% off sale at Neiman Marcus or Nordstrom’s… it’s just not going to happen. But this will change soon so stay tuned..

Fishing Report: Fishing Parties Happening In Puerto Vallarta, Marlin, Sailfish, Yellowfin Tuna, Summer Fishing Begins Now!

YeHa… We made it through May, the worst month of the year when it comes to tourism and those looking to head out fishing. Along with the warmer weather comes the warm water fish like Marlin, Sailfish, Dorado, Rooster Fish, Cubera Snappers, Amber Jacks and yes, Yellowfin Tuna. Monster Yellowfin Tuna over two hundred pounds and can range upwards to 400 lbs. It´s time to party and shift our mental gears to get ready for Summer Amigos! It´s Time to Party!

Oil Spill Coming Issues, Hurricanes!

Looking beyond the devistation to sea life, the devistation to ecosystem of the marsh lands, and the twenty years minumum before this are comes back to any resemblence of what we knew of say just last year. Looking beyone the way of life hundreds of thoudands of people will be forced out of. The businesses, the familys, the property values of oil ladden beaches, all of this is important and easy to remember and think of… But there is an issue that litterally stirs up the entire oil slick contaminated mess… The Weather! We’re talking Hurricanes here amigos…. Things can get a lot worse…

Fishing Report: Plenty of Fish, Empty Fishing Grounds, It’s Low Season Fishing

As we inch our way slowly, but surely into summer, the change in seasons have been slow indeed. The game fish like Dorado and Sailfish are slowly inching there way close to the normal fishing grounds for this time of the year to the Marietta Islands. Yellowfin Tuna are getting larger by the day, that is if you are up for the distance and the Challenge of a long day with no guarantees.

Mexico, It's Not Exactly as You Hear, The Other Side of the Coin!

First: A reality check on Mexico
Mexico is in a unique position to reap many of the benefits of the decline of the US economy. In order to not violate NAFTA and other agreements the U.S.A. cannot use direct protectionism, so it is content to allow the media to play this protectionist role. The U.S. media – over the last year – has portrayed Mexico as being on the brink of economic collapse and civil war. The Mexican people are either beheaded, kidnapped, poor, corrupt, or narco-traffickers. The American news media was particularly aggressive in the weeks leading up to spring break. The main reason for this is money. During that two-week period, over 120,000 young American citizens poured into Mexico and left behind hundreds of millions of dollars.

Look Out, La Nina may be coming and it's due..

We have been talking about the possiblity of La Nina coming on , when he sent me this information. For those of you who really keep an eye on conditons, this is worth reading and analyzing since it will affect fishing. How exactly is for speculation, it just depends on how sever or lite La Nina turns out to be, if indeed we do move into a La Nina conditon. Check the links out so you Yellowfin Tuna Guys can make your own determinations…..

Fishing Conditions Slow To Change, But Changing They Are !

This week the weather was warmer than normal and the humidity was going through the roof, which believe it or not, it is supposed to be getting more like this every day. But we are seeing cold days mixed in with warm humid days. What it all means is basically we are still in a late winter mode and in turn that means the water is late warming up. That is not a catastrophe, but as we come back in to Tourism Mode as we come into late May, we do normally have Dorado and Sailfish to go after. But this is an interesting situation where as summer is coming on and things are still cool seasonally. On the positive side, we see Rooster fish north of Punta Mita, Sailfish north of San Pancho and there is plenty of bait in the water for your favorite blue plate special!
