Marina Vallarta Las Palmas I Local 3

Picking a Charter Company, What You Don’t know Will Hurt You Part 1 of 2

Written by Stan Gabruk Introduction: I wrote this article last year for a local publication last year and thought it’s good to revisit this article and remind folks that we’re coming into High Season for Fishing. Most people assume our high season is in the winter. Tourism likes the cooler weather, fishing favors the hot […]

Massive Bait, Swirling Currents, Stripers and Baby Dorado, Strange Stuff

Written by Stan Gabruk, owner Master Baiter’s Sportfishing & Tackle It seems sometimes that Puerto Vallarta’s fishing grounds are always changing. Seasonal changes and daily changes in fishing conditions can be frustrating for sure. We’re now at the time of the year where we have warming water temperatures with swirling cold currents, a frustration […]

Living Like A Local: Travel Advisory Scams!

Written By Stan Gabruk Before I start this article, I have to say the latest travel warning posted by the United States surprised me. I expected them to warn the world about Covid-19 again. Put the fear of god into you travelers, but that’s not the case at all. In fact the U.S. Travel […]

Increasing Water Temperatures, Summer Species Moving in, Dorado, Stripers, Sailfish

Written by Stan Gabruk, owner Master Baiter’s Sportfishing & Tackle A week ago when we had the larger sized porpoises moving following a massive amount of bait that in turn was following the currents. I knew then, that it looked like we could be seeing a change. Less than a week later conditions and […]

Striped Marlin Dominate, Jack Crevalles Increasing, Spotty Red Tide

A few weeks ago, we saw an incredible drop in water temperatures which of course pushed the warm water species out and rather quickly I might ad. It decimated the local fishing, but things have improved. Water temperatures are now 70 degrees pretty much in all our world famous fishing grounds. So the local conditions have become a bit more attractive as we have more Striped Marlin moving in. Covid on the other hand is causing some tourism challenges, but not when it comes to fishing. For those lucky enough to be “stuck” in Puerto Vallarta you will for the most part have empty fishing grounds. For the moment the fishing is about as good as you could hope for with plenty of action and Whales are just a side benefit!

Great Fishing, Subtle Changes, Marlin, Tuna, Sailfish and Dorado, Oh Ya!

Welcome once again to a wonderful “cookie cutter” High Season fishing report. Once we get into this mode things will pretty much be the same weekly with few changes. Subtle changes can make all the difference though. Water temperature being one of them, right now we’ve seen a subtle drop which indicates changes are on the horizon. For now we’re still It’s all about world class fishing with just about perfect conditions. For those looking to boat a “finned fantasy” now would be a good time to be on the water. For those who are “budget challenged” we have short day options that are fun and affordable. If you came to Puerto Vallarta and didn’t get on the water, then you missed half what Puerto Vallarta has to offer!
