Marina Vallarta Las Palmas I Local 3

If you’re fishing in Puerto Vallarta right now, you couldn’t ask for better conditions. I’ll expand on this, but the water temperatures are perfect and a perfect ‘high visibility blue’. Bait conditions are at a perfect level with many varied baits species to drive you crazy. Which species are you looking to target? We have Marlin, Sailfish, Dorado, Roosterfish, Cubera Snappers and more. There are still some surprises out there, but any captain worth his salt can deal with them. The seas are smooth, the weather warm but not hot. For a short time, high season for fishing, overlaps with Tourism high season and right now, everyone is coming up winners!

Our 2.5 day trips on our 67ft Luxury Hatteras Sportfishing Yacht will put you on Yellowfin Tun much larger than this. Contact me for more info!

Normally I start out with Corbetena being the ‘star’ of the week. But things are always subject to change and this week we’re going to go into detail about El Banco, aka ‘The Bank’. For many years El Banco was the premier fishing area for Yellowfin Tuna that wasn’t a fishery where the species breed. Then for years the area was mostly dead. Many opinions on this, but when “they’re” there, they’re normally larger than what’s happening at Corbetena. But things have changed, right now, if you’re at the ‘high spots’ you can expect to get several Marlin between 250 to 450+ lbs., with double hookups! Yellowfin Tuna are running anywhere from 40 to 180 lbs. and maybe larger. Dorado are running between 20 and 45 lbs. Sailfish are huge and they’re all just fifty miles out from Marina Vallarta. I don’t know what more you could as for. It’s like automatic fishing at El Banco with nobody out there. With Blue water, perfect water temperature, varied bait species and it’s all happening now.

Not forgetting about Corbetena, it’s great there as well. But everyone is heading to El Banco since the area is on fire! Corbetena has Dorado at the 30 lbs. range. Sailfish, you bet. Marlin in the same size ranges averaging out at about 350 lbs. right now. Dorado too at 20 to 35 lbs. Same perfect high visibility blue water, plenty of bait and plenty of fish looking to pull your arms off! You want world class fishing and the most desired species of the year, then give me a call, we’ll go fishing together! Bottom line here is the action is incredible between both the high spots and the rock!

Remembering fish are moving around like my ex-wife running from store to store at a Christmas sale. Anywhere or any fishing grounds you choose, you’ll have great action and smiles to last a life time. El Morro to Punta Nayarit is alive and producing many Sailfish, Dorado in the 20 to 25 lbs. range and Capt. Tory on his new boat La Otra, was in Roosterfish heaven catching several over 45 lbs. If you’re heading to Corbetena, I’d drop baits at the Marietta Islands and be ready for anything. If you’re off the point of Nayarit, about twelve miles out you’ll more than likely run into a Blue Marlin of good size. Plenty of bait, perfect conditions, it’s starting to sound like a cookie cutter report now.

A Super panga in the bay the last week or so has been incredible with a possible Dorado like this in the 25 lb range. As you look at this, remember this was a short day on a nicely priced Super Panga. So this could be you!

Inside the bay, it’s magic right now. Four-hour trips will produce Sierra Mackerels, Bonito to 20 lbs, Skipjack Tuna at 10 lbs, Dorado at Los Arcos in the 20 lb range. Sailfish are being seen and boated at La Cruz Marina and at Los Arcos as well. I’ve been sending people our for four hours and even they’re coming back in with spaghetti for arms from all the action. I forgot to mention that the Jack Crevalles are picking up in numbers like you’d expect and oh, the Whales are back in the bay.

Right now, it’s like a fish wonderland if you’re fishing in Puerto Vallarta. The water temperatures are now at the perfect temperature at 84 degrees. And now with no rain and perfect air temperatures, conditions couldn’t be better. The bite is still about 08:30, so don’t leave too early and maximize your time on the water. Remember when there is a lot of live bait in the area, at times a dead bait may work better than live bait and lures. But to be honest, you could put a hook on your car keys and you’d hook a Marlin!
