Marina Vallarta Las Palmas I Local 3

Yellowfin Tuna, Marlin, Sailfish, Rooster Fish, Summer Sportfishing Explodes!

Things are getting hot in Puerto Vallarta and I am not only talking about the weather. Every year I write about how when the weather gets hot, so does the fishing. Many can handle the heat and humidity that comes along with Monster Yellowfin Tuna and Black Marlin. For those, the season is early for these species and the season is shaping up nicely. This is the time of year where those who want to cry about having to head out twelve hours to hit world class fishing grounds are better off staying off the water. You see here in Vallarta we have some unique conditions that keep this area one of the best fishing locations in the world. That’s right amigos, I SAID THE WORLD!

QUICKIE REPORT: Yellowfin Hunters Chomping at the bit!

Thurday, June 17th, we had our first thunder and lightening storm last night and it officially rings in Summer and the Rainy Season. But fear not anglers, this is what we are looking for and the fishing will only get better from here out….

BEHIND THE SCENES: Mexicos Fishing Industy Consolidation Continues

When people think of Sportfishing companies throughout the world, they think they are run by major corporations with very deep pockets. We have learned from the Gulf oil spill that the majority of Sportfishing companies are small and have most of their money tied up in boats where the bank has the note. When something like the Gulf Oil Spill brings out how vulnerable the fishing industry anywhere is to market conditions and eco castrophies

It’s Fish City in Puerto Vallarta Fishing Grounds, Summer is Here!

It’s Fish City in Puerto Vallarta Fishing Grounds, Summer is Here! It can seem like a thousand years from Easter to mid June when all the summer vacationers find their way back to Vallarta once again. After last year and the swine flu lies the press in the states were spreading around, it had us a little worried that tourism may not bounce back. Now with fishings high season returning the favored species of Blue Marlin, Yellowfin Tuna, Sailfish and yes even Dorado have returned to the area just in time for vacationing anglers to boat that finned fantasy in their bucket lists.

Finally, Summer Finds Puerto Vallarta, Blue Marlin, Sailfish, and Roosters Return!

The exciting news this week is the Rooster Fish at the Marietta Islands have finally gotten their eyes off the ladies and are interested in a nice, flashy jig! Roosters at the islands have been in the 40 to 70 lb range and they’re anything but polite about the way they’re attaching a jig. If you´ve never seen a Rooster fish attack a bait on the surface, it´s actually shocking to see it for the first time. The quills sticking up from the surface as it literally races like a torpedo towards your bait. It looks almost like a submarine sea demon. Once hit hits, then you know it´s a demon! On light tackle you can expect to spend fifteen minutes to an hour depending on the variables. One non-variable will be your sore arms the next day! Since we´re talking about the Marietta Islands, the Sailfish are setting up house in this area again, that´s the good news. The bad news, sort of, is there are like billions upon billions of flying fish in the small sardine size. Trying to turn their heads from that is like pulling your wife from an 80% off sale at Neiman Marcus or Nordstrom’s… it’s just not going to happen. But this will change soon so stay tuned..
