The big surprise this week is the arrival of Dorado! Normally we see them in June or July, May in some years, but this past year has been terrible. Finally we´re seeing some show up around Punta Mita. Where there are some there are surely more in the area. Blue Marlin are picking up in numbers and Black Marlin are also more available. Yellowfin Tuna at El Banco and Corbeteña, life is good!

Corbeteña: Yellowfin Tuna running 100 to 140 lbs have picked up in numbers and in size the last week with the arrival of massive amounts of bait in the water. No issues making bait as Skip Jack Tuna are all over the area. Blue and Black Marlin are concentrating around the Rock more and seem to be looking for your presentation. Sailfish are partying with the Marlin. Cubera Snappers are taking trolled baits and the water conditions are a perfect high visibility blue, almost purple. Yes Amigos Corbeteña is well worth the fuel expense, finally!

11-05-2016-snapper-650-pxls-mbtextMuch the same for El Banco as Blue Marlin to 600 lbs are taking baits nicely. Black Marlin in the same range, Cubera Snappers to 65 lbs, Sailfish of course, and Yellowfin Tuna at 180 to 200 lbs! Finally we can justify the fuel coast. Start at the ¨high spots¨ and work your way out to 1 to 3 miles to the west and things will work well for you. Bait is plentiful, water is blue, No Dorado as yet but this will change hopefully soon, stay tuned.

Punta Mita / El Morro areas are springing to life as well amigos. Sailfish are becoming more and more abundant. Blue Marlin are off El Morro and Dorado are off the point so drop your lines about three miles out and get ready for some arm burning action. Put Jack Crevalls, Bonito (Tuna) and Sierra Mackerals into the picture and you´ll have a fun day.

Inside the bay is much the same as the last few weeks. Jack Crevalls are starting to decrease in number as they should with warm water. We´re still seeing freak incidences of Sailfish being boated off the La Cruz to Los Arcos. Don´t expect them and one will show up. Bonito to 35 lbs, Jack Crevalls at 40 lbs and your fill of Mackerals! A four hour trip in the bay will be well worth the time and money. The red tide is gone and it´s full speed ahead for fishing in PV right now! Update: Inside the bay some Dorado have moved in around the river mouth with Snappers, Bonito and Jack Crevalls.

Water temperatures are still hovering at 86 degrees, considered almost perfect. All the fishing grounds are seeing high visibility blue water to the point of being purple! The Bite is ealier now at 7:00 am or a bit later and the late bite is just after the noon to 1 p.m. time frame, plan accordingly. Lures to use this week are Option 1: Purple with red stripes. Option 2: Green with Yellow and black stripes. And another option: Pink / Blue.

Until next week, Don´t forget to kiss Your Fish!
