What is different you may ask, well we´re seeing Dorado, finally at Corbeteña! But that´s not all, we´re in High Season for Fishing now so we´ll be seeing conditions improve, fish coming more and more abundant as water temperatures up north start to drop. The weather is perfect, water temperatures are still perfect and with the High Visibility blue water everything is coming together nicely. It´s time to shake that piggy bank amigos, Puerto Vallarta fishing is back on track which means World Class is here again!

I have to say that finally last week I had a chance to write a real fishing report and this week is just as good with a difference. Corbeteña this week has stepped up and now we´re seeing Black Marlin and Blue Marlin (all in the 250 to 600 lb range) which were pretty sparse in the last article. Yellowfin Tuna, not yet, but hang in there, football Tuna are in the area. If you are at Corbeteña and you see Spinner Dolphin you´ll most likely find 40lb Yellowfin Tunas. Sailfish are good sized, just around a hundred pounds. Dorado are here as I mentioned, still around 30 lbs, we won´t complain! As always Cubera Snappers, possibility of Rainbow Runners and Wahoo should be moving into the area, so have the wire leaders at the ready. Blue Water, Plenty of bait in the form of Bullet Bonito, Flying Fish, Goggle eyes, Bonito and Skip Jack Tuna, there are no bait issues at all! For now I would say Corbeteña is your best deep water fishing location at the time of this article.

09 21 2015 YFTuna at El Banco 650 pxls MBTextMoving along, El Banco is alive and you´ll find Yellowfin tuna about twelve miles to the north of the high spots, but maybe closer by the time you get out there. The Black and Blue Marlin are here as well cleaning up on the abundant bait. Sailfish are on tap, Dorado are a little larger here, around 45 lbs, Cubera snappers at 50 lbs, Rainbow Runners at 35 lbs, Jack Crevalls, Bonito, Flying fish for bait and the list goes on. For now, if you´re not real interested in Yellowfin tuna, hit the rock at Corbeteña, it´s a shorter distance from Marina Vallarta and a cheaper day with essentially the same results.

But be careful, some days are better than others because we discovered that ¨fish move¨! What was a heavy concentration in this area last week with 25 lb Dorado is not so concentrated this week. Now that´s not bad news, but you´ll have a tad more difficulty finding Dorado in this area for the next twenty minutes. The good news is they´re still in the area and the numbers are not bad, just not perfect like last week! Throw in Bonito, Skip jack Tuna, Sailfish off the reef and around El Morro. Off Punta Mita Point you´ll have to hit the twelve mile mark before you find Marlin, but we can live with that. Dorado around the buoys if you can find them. All and all an eight hour fishing trip is well worth the few dollars it´s gonna cost you amigo… with me that is.. wink!

Inside the bay, it´s fish heaven for families and those looking for fun in the sun and not being on the water a full day. River mouths have Snook (Robalo in Spanish) and they´re in the 20 to 30 lb range. Snappers, Jack Crevalls, a whole host of species we can never keep up with. Plenty of table fare fish in the area. It´s a great reason to take advantage of my four hour Economy Special trip for $199 usd, four people, call for details or send an email. Yellowfin Tuna Footballs around the Yelapa area, they even boated another Sailfish off Los Arcos this week. I guess anything is still possible. We have not seen a trash line with the little rain we´ve gotten in the local mountains to wash the organic trail mix in. We do have small Dorado less than ten pounds sprinkled around the bay. Don´t keep a Dorado that small, we´ll be killing our future fishing which is already being stretched to the limit.

09 25 2015 Dorado at Marietta Islands MBText 650 pxlsLive bait is still king and you won´t find a better bait than bullet Bonito, every fish out there loves these perfect bite size baits, I should say ¨swallow¨ size bait fish! Lures are working, same as last week, brown / green / purple combinations are working well. Water temperatures are still at 85 degrees, perfect! The bite with the full moon is earlier in the day, remember Yellowfin will feed on the moon light, so get there before sunrise or be there at sundown, should take care of your problem boating YF Tuna.

If you´re coming to Puerto Vallarta and you´re looking for a shared charter let me know, I´ve come up with a system to hook people up and get them fishing for the cheap. I am going to post a new list of those looking to share a boat, if you can find a person that meets your desires, then it´s Yatze! I have several people looking to share a super panga from Oct 4th to the 12th time frame so Check out the web page soon…. If you´re serious about sharing a boat, fire me an email with your dates, I´ll publicize it and get you ¨Hooked-Up¨!
