In February we always think about how different winter fishing is and how much better it is in September. Now that we are in September the fantasy of larger fish and warm days are a reality. The fishing in Puerto Vallarta right now is great! Sailfish, Marlin, Yellowfin Tuna, Rooster fish and now larger Dorado or (aka Mahi Mahi) have finally picked up in numbers. With weather and sea conditions about as good as you could hope for, you are looking at prime time for fishing in Mexico! The fishing grounds are uncrowded and when was the last time you remember September at the Rock (Corbeteña) uncrowded?
Welcome to October, arguably the best month of the year to boat a Monster Yellowfin Tuna over 200 lbs at Corbeteña right now! The Sailfish are now running from 70 to 100lbs and are at most of the popular fishing grounds in Puerto Vallarta. The bay is alive action for those looking for shorter days and smaller fish. Punta Mita and area has nice sized Dorado, perfect water temperatures, plenty of bait, what are you waiting for, it won´t get much better than this!
As we move deeper into summer we see conditions to improve as expected in Puerto Vallarta´s world famous fishing grounds. Marlin, Sailfish, Yellowfin Tuna are still abundant and increasing by the day. But this is fishing and while it may seem like fishing in a bucket not everyday is the stuff dreams are made of. With more and more bait choices for these fish it is hard to keep up with what they are striking. This is normally important information since we all can keep a finger on the pulse of fishing when several boats head out daily. But that is not the case and while we know the fishing is great, fewer reports means we´re on a fishing safari looking for Big Game fish daily.. Stay tuned!

As we march into summer and Fishings High season we see that the predictable seasonal rains, down pours would be a better description has all kinds of trees and assorted things running in to the bay of Banderas. The up side is that Dorado are moving into the bay and although they are on the smaller, not tiny side, they are still fun to catch and great to eat! Black and Blue Marlin are around Corbeteña and El Banco, but you may have to work a little for these highly desirable gamefish. Favorable conditions are here in Puerto Vallarta´s world class fishing grounds now. The only thing lacking is YOU!
