As spring marches along, we find the Dorado have started to make a return to the area. Both El Banco and Corbeteña have seen slow as late but hopefully this will change very soon. Yellowfin Tuna Footballs are around the high spots as well which means it can´t be long before there are Billfish chasing them down! Puerto Vallarta Sportfishing is on the rise!
Another reason Marina Vallarta is not as well known as it should be, being in the top ten private marinas in the world(!), the company that owns the marina is broke… It´s the same corporate mix up, one company owns this company, even though the original company set up the lower company that went bankrupt. So the original company is now at the end of the twenty year lease period. Actually this period ended two plus years ago and the docks, boats and people have been hanging for years on when or what was going to happen.
But there was a Puerto Vallarta fishing scene long before just a few years ago when the site went up.
If you are looking for accurate, professional, intelligent fishing information there are lots of local area resources to visit. www.BandaresNews.com for example has several people posting local fishing reports without mostly naked women and foul language or subject matters. I’ll tell you, if my twelve year old was on this site, I would worry about the content my son or daughter was reading.
Another site is Western Outdoor News, possible the largest online and established fishing site online: www.won.com Well worth the time to bookmark it…
Lots of fishing reports on Puerto Vallarta available on www.WorldWideFishing.com they have more guides and articles on the subject of fishing, all over the world than you could sit and read!
Fishing Forums like www.InTheBite.com are great for local information where everyday guys post fishing articles from personal experience as well as charter company / captains articles….. Josh is on Sportfishingmag.com and there is Marlin mag online as well with many, many other professional contributors. But you won’t find simi nude women on these sites, sorry. Your twelve year old would be better served to visit thes locations instead.
When Bloody Decks name is mentioned in the same sentences as the names above, then I will begin to take them seriously as well.
We saw our first early season Blue Marlin the other day and it was in the 500 lb range. Caught at Corbeteña, it is starting to look like there may be some new life at Corbeteña. Sailfish are also moving into the area as well, there is plenty of bait in the water, it looks like the planets are beginning to align (hopefully) and we may see the beginning of a normal fishing season! Keep your fingers crossed.
Remember, if the only way you can look good is by pointing a finger, and trying to look good by comparison instead of going out and focusing on your own achivements, you will always put yourself behind the leader, making you little more than a follower with an agenda and a toxic opinion!

Well Spring has sprung and we´re seeing the annual return of the Spring Breakers! Along with these hardy souls, the Sailfish have started to move back into the area. In March we can normally expect to see this happen as it has from the beginning of time. This year with the uncertain water and current conditions it is hard to predict what kind of spring we are going to have. But with the beginning of their return, we are optimistically looking towards summer and a hopefully normal season. I guess we can all share that fantasy!

This year we’ve seen a real mixed bag. Summer time fish like Roosters and Needle fish are in the bay in good numbers. Yet fish like we’d expect to see, fish like Dorado and Sailfish have all but left the area. With water temperatures hovering at or just below eighty degrees this is not normal. Yet there are plenty of fish to be had IF you aren´t looking for Moby Dick or his close cousin. If it’s action you are looking for then we have what the doctor ordered.
I know I knock the wealthier guys on occasion, but right now it doesn´t hurt to be a fat cat. The reason being that you’ll need to burn a little of that extra disposable income to play in this arena. Yellowfin Tuna have exploded in out of season Sportfishing in PUERTO VALLARTA. You’ll be looking at close to an 18 hr day to hunt these beauties. Best option would be an overnight since these fishing grounds can be up to eighty miles one way. Now I know, I hear it all the time, why is it so expensive, well this is why amigos.
